FITNESS UNIVERSAL FUNDAMENTALS
Fundamentals are old, if someone tells you they have some new fundamentals then they are missing the point. Fitness Universal may have been established in 2010, but the 6 Fitness Universal fundamentals have been around for centuries....... Follow these to ensure you achieve a healthy lifestyle, and be the best you can be, everyday.
Balanced Diet
We have been hearing this since primary school, but how many of us actually adhere to the basic principles that constitute a balanced diet? How many people even consume 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day? It is vital for our health and energy levels that we consume roughly the right quantities of each type of food each day and through our rigorous diet analysis and planning we can help.
Regular Exercise
This is a no brainer, it is a must. There are various guidelines available, but in essence, you need to be as active as possible all the time, humans were not designed to be sedentary! Walk when you can, take the stairs not the elevator, walk up escalators, cycle to work if it’s feasible, and exercise at least 3 times per week, raising your heart rate and working your muscular and skeletal system. Fitting exercise into your life is what we do best, so don’t worry, just contact us. Check out our deal on the Fitness Universal Kettlebell Class.
Managing Stress Levels
We all encounter stress from time to time, some more than others, but what is really important is how we deal with it. Life’s stresses can accumulate and even overwhelm if we let them. It is important to prioritise you, and ensure you do not neglect yourself. Make sure you have time to enjoy yourself and do the things you love, with the people you love. This sounds simple but many people lose sight of this. Burning energy on things beyond our remit of control is defined as suffering, so don’t do it, do the best you can, and as much as you can all the time, and the rest will take care of itself.
Adequate Sleep
It is a psychiatrist’s joke that so much more happens to our bodies in terms of growth, healing, hormone release and nervous activity when we are asleep that the body is only truly awake when asleep, and it is the waking hours which are biologically passive... Okay not going to get a laugh every time, but it is making the point that sleep is crucial to the normal function of our body and mind. Without enough sleep we have disrupted hunger patterns, mood swings, not to mention inhibition of cognitive ability and we cannot heal our bodies. If you are not getting at least 6-8 hours per night, you may think you are surviving ok, but trust us, sleep more and the difference will astound you.
Hydration
Are you drinking between 1.5 and 3 litres per day? No, not many people do, we are all dehydrated most of the time. It takes only a drop in hydration of a couple of % for our brain function to be affected badly as well as harming the chemical processes in the body which rely on water. Many headaches and aches and pains can be attributed to poor hydration, so instead of reaching for the pain killers get a glass of water, aim for at least 1.5 litres per day, preferably around 2 depending on your size. You may feel bloated at first, but your body will adjust and your overall wellbeing will be greatly boosted.
Healthy Self Image
It is so important in life that we view our selves in a favourable fashion. We are all ancestral success stories and have earned our right to existence, and yet so many people apologise for themselves all too often. We will work with you to build self confidence and self esteem, by helping you to start making decisions, having an opinion and not apologising for it, and trusting your instincts and believing in them. Our self esteem grows as a factor of the decisions we make in life, both right and wrong, avoiding decision making leads to self doubt and loss of self confidence. We can help you to trust your judgement and take positive action in your life thus promoting your self image, and you will really feel the difference.
